The Divine Sister is one of those shows that you either love or hate, and obviously a lot of people are loving it as it has been running off Broadway since last Sepetember after an limited engagement last Spring. We caught up with this show last December but it is currently running at the Soho Playhouse, and I highly urge anyone who has a sense of humor to go.
The show is basically a love fest devoted to all of the nun movies of the 50's and 60's with a lot of naughty jokes thrown in. Charles Busch wrote the play and stars as the Mother Superior. The cast also includes Julie Halston and Alison Fraser- all at the top of their form. I don't want to give anything away as there are plenty of twists and turns along the way with many secrets revealed. There is also one great running gag that starts between Busch and Halston and the rest of the cast brings up again later, that is one of those jokes you'll not soon forget. We saw this with our friends Larry and Paul, and Paul is an Episcopalian Priest and they both had a good time.
